3BAR map sensor for Evo 9 Load Table Limit
Moderators:R!C0, JonMan, RickS
Hello, I'm new to the GEMS ecu, I have experience with the MOTEC M800 ecu, but totally new to GEMS;
I have a plug and play ecu for the evo9, and when i load the base file or the GIN file and open the fuel map, the highest load limit is 129KPa, and I can't expand it further...
Any help on how to raise the load to say 360KPa?
Thanks a lot for the support

First we must determine what is useful range of sensor.
Say sensor is for nominal 5volt supply:
A signal of 0volts = 20 kPa
A signal of 5volts = 315 kPa
This range is rescaled by MAP_min and MAP_max
So if MAP_min = 0.06V (raw 3 units) and MAP_max = 4.90V (raw 251 units).
This should still give useful fault detection in Error MAP parameter.
The range of load will be:
min = 20kPa + (295kPa × (0.06/5.00) = 23.4 kPa
max = 20kPa + (295kPa × (4.90/5.00) = 309.1 kPa
For a system with an underlying (default) range of load 0-100%, with Load Scalar = 1 or 0, Load Offset = 0
User scalar would be mult = (309-23)/100= 2.86 offset 23.3 for kPa
Note since Boost Error is a relative measure it has no offset, and just uses Load Scalar.
If you supply sensor data, and range you wish to use, I will rework example.
But you say 3Bar sensor is that 3Bar gauge, since absolute is only 305kPa
Would also help to know which version of firmware you are running

Thanks a lot for your help Rich, I understood very well what you explained, but how to set this up in GWv4?RichA wrote:Kamal

I mean where to set the sensor type or range?
I read all the manuals, but didn't find how to do it...
Best regards

The units selection is under configure tab.
Also more details in GWv4 help.

Finally I've returned to my Evo 9 after a long journey...
I'm doing a wiring job, and need to know if the stock one is fully compatible, I mean what wires are for the MAP sensor and the IAT sensor?
Are they the same as the pinouts of the Factory Evo 9 ones?
Also what MAP and IAT sensors to use and how to configure them in GWv4 ?
I have a built engine with wild cams and forged internals...I'll be running 2.3bar of boost...
Best Regards
Kamal
Re: 3BAR map sensor for Evo 9 Load Table Limit
If you're running 2.3 bar of boost, a 3 bar MAP sensor wouldn't be your best bet. I'd try 5 bar and get a respected make VDO etc.
In GWv4 you can calibrate the MAP (Manifold air Pressure) sensor by inputting the value of Voltage into
the table at the values of parameter Map Raw (V).
MAF/MAP Options
MAP
MAP Max
The range of the MAP sensor the highest voltage.
MAP Min
The range of the MAP sensor the lowest voltage.
MAP Source
Pin Input which can be found in Input assignments in the manual that you have.
MAP Cal
Time over which the ECU averages the MAP input measured in internal units. Typically 12
MAP Alt sample
Will sample MAP sensor on normal and alt edges as defined in Tooth Control table.
Typically Off.
