Post by jimarea51 » Thu Dec 25, 2008 9:26 pm

i have a subaru 96 wrx that is suffering from a very strange cam sensor pick up fault
when the engine is cold the car will start and run ok but when fully warm it fails to recognise the
can signall and missfires and then stops, it will restart and run ok above 2500 rpm but bellow that
missfires and stalls
if you move the cam sensor untill it touches the ferite rods on the back of the plastic cam wheel it runs fine !!

any bidy got any ideas i have treid the car on a different ecu and it is just the same the cam sensor wiring has good
contacts and low resistence

can any one help ?? thanks

Hi,

I think the problem you have might be due to noise. The Cam Hi Sens and Cam Low Sens options will turn the sensitivity of the cam sensor down when engine speed increases, try turning the cam sensor sensitivity lower at a much lower rpm such as 900. It is also worth trying a new sensor as the problem might be a symptom of it failing.

Hope this helps
Ed
