Can not communicate with CPU

Post by nealgarton » Fri Apr 18, 2008 12:31 am

I have the GEMS 1.10 software installed on my Windows XP computer and I have my GEMS 1.16 engine controller connected using a simple RS-232 cable, but I am unable to get any communication between the two. I note reference to an ".ini" file in the readme instructions (I do not know where the .ini file is even located or if it exists). Is this possibly the root cause? Do you have any suggestions for troubleshooting this problem? My car is a Raceline Caterham ZETEC and I am attempting to increase the RPM limit in the ECU ROM to the limit stated in the specifications.

Hi,

Please see attached files. Try putting them in the same folder as the program.

Thanks Rico,

I tried installing the files that you provided, but I am still seeing the same error message as before when starting up the GEMS software - "No EMS/Engine installations found". This sounds like it must be a very basic problem, but I can not figure it out. I am using just a basic RS-232 3 wire (Rx, Tx, Ground) connection. Is there a chance that this is the problem? Thanks much for your help! Neal
