EM36 pin assignment

Post by markk » Mon Jun 23, 2014 1:12 am

I know how versatile this ecu is, having looked through my options list, and the manual i need a couple of extra switched inputs.
It says i can configure C4 main relay as am input, though i can't wrk out how.

Also, my spare pins are C1, C4 and C12. Can i reconfigure any of these to inputs?

Thanks
Mark

Hi Mark,
As far as I can recall C1, C4 and C12 are all outputs.

C4 can be turned into a 'simple' output rather than Main Relay, by setting the TOC7 output to 'On'. I will check on C1 and C12 but I am pretty sure that these are output only, C1 being a voltage and C12 a 3amp Low Side output.

What configuration are you running (4, 6, 8 cyls, COP, DIS etc..) as I have some pinning options that may be of some use if you need some suggestions......

Best regards. Rick

Thanks Mark,
It sounds as if you are maxed out as far as inputs are concerned. I've had a word with the developers and apart from a hardware re-design, they can't think of a way to squeeze more inputs in to what is already a 'busy' ECU.

If you would send me a copy of your connection layout to tech(dot)support(at)gems.co.uk I will check and confirm.

Rick

Thanks Rick,

I will send you a copy of my layout later on and my cal.

why is there the option of switches up to 32 with only really so few inputs?

Mark

16 defined Switch Inputs plus switches 17-32 that are user defined by the User Switch Source appears (ALS/Fuel Diff etc.) to have been sufficient up until now..! It's just that there is an obvious limitation on the pins available.

Sorry that this does not appear to be enough... Newer models will offer more connectivity.

I think there is more than enough Rick, I just think that I have not assigned them to their best use, thinking I might have limited myself rather the ECU limiting me.

EM36 is by far the best ECU out there versus the functions it has (and even more so the support from you guys ;))

I will get a copy of the layout later and hopefully you can tell me how to improve.

Mark

No problem (and thanks!)
Always here to help where I can. Just email me the info and I'll certainly see if we can squeeze a little more in/out..!

Have picked those up thanks Mark....
Will reply through email but there maybe some mileage in reassigning the TC options to the facility which is internal to the 01v28 version of the EM36....
