DA1 logger setup for BR-355 gps module
Moderators:R!C0, JonMan, RickS
Hi!
I'm at a loss to what to log and how when BR-355 gps module is connected to DA1 via serial. BR-355 module is supplied by GEMS a couple of years ago.
Logger gets datastream from CAN bus and a transponder signal, and they both work great.
I tried to read all I could find about NMEA-0183 gps comms protocol but couldn't turn that info to anything useful when configuring DA1.
Thanks!

Re: DA1 logger setup for BR-355 gps module
I will dig out what information that I can on the GPS module and post it here. If I can find a suitable logging setup, I'll let you know.
To set up a serial stream, select the Serial Protocol and Serial Speed from the drop down lists in the 'Comms' section of the DA1 setup application. GPS (NMEA) I believe is the option you want. This is all that needs to be done for serial streams under the Inputs tab. To set the logged units to 'Radians' (needed to map circuits), the option can be found under 'Angle' in the 'Select Units' option in the GDA setup software.
I'll see if I have a GPS serial setup somewhere.
BR, Rick
Edit... Serial GPS setup added.... Please check the Bus Speed. It's set for 4800 in the attached file which may not be correct in the STU file that you're working on.... Hope that this help. Rick

Thanks! I will test this next Wednesday at the track, and will report what I find.RickS wrote:... Serial GPS setup added....
Re: DA1 logger setup for BR-355 gps module
Seems that I have to combine "Long Mins" and "Long secs" to make one longitudinal channel, and same for latitude. That channel could be used for track creation and position. Am I correct?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Yes you will need to combine the two.
Please see attached a maths example of how to do you this. You can import this by going to: Data > Edit Maths > Import
Note that they have extra functions to smooth out the data (often required).
