hi,
i purchased a new map sensor from you and was about to cal it but i have just a quick question.
when fitting a larger map sensor how do i set the map max? would i be right in saying that map min is set by car running at idle and read of the map raw.
i'm going from a standard impreza 95 map sensor range of 1 bar up to a 3 bar sensor purchased from you part 12223861 lot 1951.
in the manual it refers to map swop to use a group n map sensor?
cheers
Steve

Hi Steve,
By monitoring MAP raw and pressurising the sensor up to 3 bar with a measurable source (foot pump etc.), the raw figure for maximum pressure can be found. This is the value of the MAP raw signal at full load for a MAP derived load and if this value is exceeded, the TPS to Load table will be used.

Attached is a chart showing values for 1, 2 and 3 bar sensors. This is only a guide, so check yours with a multimeter.

The Group N Sensor option is used if you want to swap between two MAP sources and use a different scaling. So as you are using a standard sensor, use the setup as described in the manual.

I hope that this is of some help,
RickS

brilliant thought it had to be a simple way of measuring it. if i pressurize it over 3bar will it get damaged?
so when the 3 bar map sensor is fitted we set it to map swop on and off if using standard sensor?
cheers

I wouldn't over pressurise it. It certainly won't do it any good even though they have a little headroom.

As I understand it, you are only running a stock Delco MAP sensor, so you don't need to use the 'swap' option. Connect the sensor that you have as per the pin-out details in the manual and you should be fine once you have scaled the raw value.

So map swop set to off. I don't mean to be a pain, but I have another question regarding the ait sensor I acquired from you. To wire this in, do I take wire from ecu pin ao5 50 to sensor then a wire from sensor to a good ground!
Again Subaru96 ecu v2.28
kind regards
Steve

Yes Steve,
5v signal to A05 and the ground to a suitable earthing point.

Regarding the 'swap' option, as you are not using the Group N Boost sensor, I believe that you can switch it 'Off'. However, in all of the V2.28 calibrations I have here, it is left 'On'. I will check with our developers and post what I find here. In the meantime, try setting it 'Off', run the car and then 'On' and run the car. Monitor the MAP parameters and tell me what you see.

Regards,
RickS

hi,
I'm bringing up this old thread because when i applied pressure to the map sensor you supplied it only went up to 2 bar befor it didn't read anymore?
Also can you explain what the options map mbar m and mbar c are used for?
regards
steve
