strange dbw/traction control issue
Moderators:R!C0, JonMan, RickS
Hi,
EM36, v89. When I switch my traction pot to the minimum it opens my throttle body to full, once I click it up a notch my dbw functions fine.
Cars not fully running yet, just noticed it whilst rebuilding it all.
Regards
Mark

Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
Hi Mark,
If you would send your calibration to the tech (dot) support gems email account, I will get this looked into. Seems a little strange and I have not encountered it before. Is there any possibility that there is a wiring issue that you could check but in reality, I would need to run my eyes over your calibration to eliminate that as the culprit.

Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
Hi Rick, thanks for the reply, sorry for the delay.
No major panic just yet though, I will get it over to you guys when I need the car again lol
Thanks
Mark

Thanks for that Mark.
Please don't leave to a 'last minute panic', though it's a bit of a tradition in motorsport.....

Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
Thanks Rick, I won't, though I do know what you mean lol
Out of interest, my Fin is 00V89, and I have just noticed that there is a 01V28, would I be advised to upload this to my ecu for a firmwre change or not?

Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
Yes Mark, the 01v28 is the latest general release version of the EM36 and is what the manual is based upon. There were a couple of minor updates after 01v28 but were never released. Most find the update to 01v28 useful.

Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
Hi again Mark,
I can't see anything glaringly obvious in the calibration.
When this happens, would you give me run-down of what the 'ACT T' parameters tell you. Send me a screen print if that's easier.
I see that you've moved to 01v28......

Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
I escalated this issue as nothing appeared to be out of place in the calibration. I will have a word with development and see if anything has come to light.

Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
Got the dbw back working with the act als target map, and may well have sorted the TC issue too, but still not sure how you tell the ecu it has a rotart pot for the TC slip
Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
Have been away on honeymoon Mark, so I will check whether Richard 'A' has any more updates or has taken this further.
I noticed that in his email, he stated 'Rotary pot not set!' and I would suggest that he means that the rotary pot is not set in this calibration as I can not find, or have heard of a 'Slip' rotary pot being set up in and EM36 calibration. Are you running a diff controller of any kind...? If the rotary pot is connected to the EM36, could you please let me know to what pins it is attached.
It's been a while and my instant recall on this is a little hazy....

Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
Hi Rick,
Congratulation on the marriage (or is that comiserations? it happens to us all eventually lol )
The pot is connected in at input 13 pin B8 otherwise T3 input (cam#2)
no diff controller on this car (yet)

Re: strange dbw/traction control issue
Well, it's the second time around for me, so you'd think that I would have learned my lesson....!
Anyway, re. the Pot....... I see that the pot is used to alter the 'TC Adjust Input'. Is there anyway that you can get the voltage read from all of the positions of the switch. In other words, the voltage into the pot and the voltages at each of the pinds when the pot is rotated, if that makes sense.......
