Wheel Speeds/outputs?

Post by toger13 » Fri Sep 14, 2012 10:29 pm

Hi guys

This might sound like a really random question but is it possible to input both front axle speeds in to an EM36 get it to add them both together then half them, then compare it to engine speed to work out what gear I'm in then earth 2 wires in a sequence to trigger boost set points on my turbosmart eboost2

Thanks
Si

Sorry Si,
That capability is not available in the EM36. Just to give you (and others) a brief run down on the E36 Speed Inputs, There are 4 timed speed inputs (T1 - T4).

T1 is always Crank, or primary timing input, this may run at crank or cam speed. The optional synchronising input may be T2 or T3, controlled by GWv4 option Sync = Cam2. Lastly, there is one Road Speed, T4.

Name JP Pin ADR Primary Secondary
T1 1 A7 11 Crank
T2 2 A11 12 Cam 1
T3 3 B8 13 Cam 2 Cam 1
T4 4 C10 14 Road Speed Cam 2

.... however, you might want to get cute with the Gear Ratio Table to help you with Gear Determination. The Gear Ratio Table is searched to see if the ratio is between the specified limits for the gear starting with the low bound limit for Gear = 0, then the upper bound limit for Gear = 0, and so on up to the maximum gear ratio for Gear = 7. Thus the parameter Gear is calculated. Typical values: 68,86,44,51,29,38,22,28,18,21,8,10,0,0. The result is displayed in parameter 'Gear'...

The 'gear' parameter can be used to:-
i) select a different Gear Spark mod, from Gear Spark mod table.
ii) select a different Gear Accel mod, from Gear Accel mod table.
iii) select a different Gear WG mod, from Gear WG mod table.
iv) select a different Gear Boost mod, from Gear Boost mod table, which I guess is what you are attempting to achieve.

There's more info in the manual, which you can download from our web-site.
Regards,
Rick
