Hi everyone,I'm new to this board and I have a question about which ecu I have.
I purchased a race car and it came with an ecu and harness. On the ecu it says
Professional efi .The box is dark brownish and the 1 plug is on the end.The ecu looks like the
Em36 ecu.I called pro efi and was told its a Gems ecu .is there still support for this ecu
And software for a Mitsubishi eclipse .We are here in the states .
Thank you

Hi Tony,

Professional Efi does not sound like something that we have placed on an ECU, but it could have been placed on after.

If possible could you post a picture of any labels.

Thanks

Hi - me too I'm new to this forum and my question is:
which type of ECU do I have in my recently bought 2001 Morgan Plus 8. I tried to dismount the ECU from underneath a metal cover. But see the labels I have to detach 3 plugs (two black one red in the middle) and stopped dismounting it; because I don't know what will happen to the ECU when detaching the cables/plugs.

I have read David A. Poole's technical report and would assume having a GEMS
http://www.gomog.com/allmorgan/GEMS/GEMSbyPoole.pdf

Which software/PC combination do I need to read the characteristics of the ECU ?
thanks for help
Axel

Hi Axel,
I think that there is a little confusion here.

The ECU that I believe that you have in your Morgan is a Lucas SAGEM GEMS. In this case, GEMS stands for 'Generic Engine Management System' and was fitted to a variety of Rover V8's, marketed by Lucas.

Our bespoke competition ECU's are indeed named GEMS devices but in this case GEMS stands for 'General Engine Management Systems'. Different company and confusing.

However, I'm not sure if you can 'flash' that particular ECU unless you have a 'Rovercom' Diagnostic computer but I believe that you can have it 'chipped'.

Hope that this is of some help.
RickS
