Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
Yes, that looks right, we have some reasonable data. The CAN speed was right this time (in the GDA setup), that was the key. So now its a case of adding the rest of the channels to the setup, then getting the scaling sorted. In the setup you have (3) the CAN inputs have all been setup as per your mo...

Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
Are you sure you have uploaded setup 3?
I extracted the setup from that last log file and it has the CAN baud rate set to 160Hz.
We need this set to 1Mhz.

Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
OK so checking more docs, I have misunderstood some of the Motec details. The 'CAN 0 Transfer rate' is not the baud rate, but the sample rate, suggest changing this back to something like 100. By default the M800 baud rate is 1Mhz, so I have attached another setup with the buad rate set to 1MHz. Loa...

Thats the same as what I see. If you do another run on the logger, what do the lights do?

Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
Please re-read my last post. You can not open that file. That is the raw data from the logger, which will act as the logger when copied to C:\.
Also, please stick with GDA and leave Dlog alone.

Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
That file is the raw data from the card, you need to copy it to a local drive i.e. C:\, GDA will then allow you process it into a log file to select this: Logger > Select logger. Select DA99 logger on C:\. Then select: Logger > Download Log. *EDIT: Just to make you aware, this file acts like a logge...

Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
No I didn't mean used Dlog, but that is progress. Its probably had the same effect.
In the GDA logger setup window, if you select DA99 setup from the left hand list. Then you will see a number of options to the right, top left most of which is Legacy DA99.
Attached is the same setup with this set.

Thanks

Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
A red light staying indicates either no can or bad setup. The wiring looks ok, so assuming it is producing a CAN output, then have to consider our setup.
Do you know the firmware version the DA99L2 is running?
In GDA setup editor, try selecting Legacy DA99 in the DA99 setup.

Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
Thanks for that. First issue is getting the CAN address and CAN transfer rate setup. Firstly the address: The value in motec manager you have is 580. Now they have this value as a decimal for some reason, so we have to convert this to hex which is 244. So I have setup your CAN Inputs for the DA99 to...

Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
We can try and take it you through it, we can do setup work, but we'll see how we can get on. If it comes here it may be some time before someone will be able to go through it. Firstly leave the display setup sheet aside, its very different. Second, use only GEMS Data-Analysis, not Dlog, so we can b...

Re: Help setting up DA99-L2 to read MOTEC CAN stream?
Hi,
Do you have the later version M800 with configurable CAN feature? Do you know how the CAN is being transmitted - message id, message structures?
Have you set up the Logger before? Which software are you using?
Thanks
Rico

Re: GEMS Diff Controller for Subaru N11
Hi Gerald, Steering angle is not taken into consideration. Control is based on wheel speed, handbrake, footbrake and throttle position. Manual: http://www.gems.co.uk/assets/Media/downloads/manuals/Subaru%20EMCD%20N11/Subaru%20EMCD%20N11%20V1.01%20Manual.pdf? The unit is plug and play, but does need ...
