Cannot connect to my ecu
- The ECU goes into a Data stream mode after 2 Seconds and will not be able to communicate when in that mode. To avoid this happening, click connected before switching on the ignition. - Check Baud Rate is set to 38400. In GWv3 goto ECU > Baud Rate. - Check correct Communication port is selected. Yo...

What are the Timed Switches for?
There are 2 timers, both up counting Time Switch Count and Time Switch B Count. They generate 2 switches each: Swt Timed 1A 19, Swt Timed 1B 20, and Swt Timed B 22, Swt Timed B 23. The important difference between switches is that the 1st set become active after a user specified time, whilst the B s...

How do you set the gear table ratios?
Gear is determined by the ratio of Engine Speed and Road Speed ( AKA VSS). The Gear ratio table holds the nominal upper and lower bounds for this Gear Ratio for each of the gears, then shown in Gear parameter. Again logging of Gear Ratio is used to detect these ranges. Once Gear is determined subtle...

Faulty Map sensor...
Q: Is there any map default if Map sensor is faulty and what would be best value? A: If the parameter Error MAP = On, and option MAP = On, then the TPS to Load table is activated, unfortunately with this ECU it is not possible to default to Air Flow. Best thing to do is to log Throttle and Engine lo...

Air temp shows wrong values
There are 2 air temperature inputs: AIT the inlet sensor mounted inside the flow meter. Plenum in the plenum measuring the boosted temperature. Which one used for Air Temperature is dependant on wheather MAP, Airflow, or MAF is used to derive Engine Load. Air Temp = Plenum if MAP=On, this is for den...

I get no CAN input, all my CAN parameters are set to record
When not logging CAN messages, all the CAN channels under the Inputs tab needs to be deleted and all the CAN parameters needs to be deleted under the Outputs tab.

The DA1 never starts logging
* Start conditions set correctly.
* Beacon not set as Start AND Stop.
* CAN channel actually contains correct data.
* CAN arbitration correct.
* Same with serial.

The DA1 never stops logging
* Check the stop conditions are set correctly. * Check the start condition is not valid at the same time as the stop condition. * The DA1 logs for two seconds after the stop conditions are met, if during this time the start conditions are again met, then the DA1 will continue logging. * Check the be...

The Green LED comes on, but there is no log
* Make sure that the Outputs in the setup file have record rates. i.e. All of them aren't set to No Record. * Make sure that the CAN arbitration codes in the Input tab are correct. * If logging only a byte in a CAN word, make sure that the correct byte is being logged. i.e. The top is being logged a...

Using GWv3 in Vista i get a blue screen, or computer Reboots
A: There appears to be an issue in the "Soft Data Fax Modem" driver. Currently this issue can be resolved by disabling the driver (this will mean that the modem cannot be used, however). To disable the driver, go to the start menu and select 'control panel'. Select 'system' and go to advanced settin...

Map Rescale
Often with boosted engines it is necessary to increase the maximum load in the fuel ignition and wastegate calibration maps. This requires MAP max, or Air Flow max, to be increased. To minimise dyno or tuning time, it is often possible to liberate lower load lines. Say the bottom 3 load lines are no...

Q: How do i set user scalars?
A: Example: This will allow GWv3 user interface and associated logging tools to show Engine Load in kPa. Using a DELCO 20-315 absolute pressure sensor. Sensor Range 20 to 315 kPa Output Range (volts) = Us ((P/437.5) - 0.0143) Since Us is a nominal 5.0 Volts. A signal of 0volts = 20 kPa A signal of 5...

Q: I have a GIN file, how do I install it?
Copy the gin file in the GWv3 gin file folder which is usually C:\Program Files\GEMS\GWv3\GIN Files. If you have the latest version of GWv3, just click connect to ECU, then GWv3 will take you through the steps needed to install the ECU. To install the GIN file manually go to > ECU > Install ECU then...

Q: GWv3 says "ECU not installed" when i try to connect
A: This means that you do not have the correct GIN file for your unit. GWv3 will display which product and version it has found. Go to the downloads section here , scroll down to the GIN files section, select your product type and GIN file version required. Once you have downloaded the GIN try to co...
