Good afternoon Jérôme,
It sounds as if you need a 3 pin 'binder' to USB comms cable.
If you send your request (along with the information that you have supplied here) to sales (at) gems.co.uk, they will be able to check our stock and if available, send you one.

You may need to provide some details, so that the order can be completed if you haven't ordered from us before.

Just to make sure, to be able to connect to a GEMS ECU, you will need the comms cable, GWv4 software, licence dongle and an appropriate .GIN file.

Best regards,
RickS

Hi Ricks,

I have latest GVV4 with dongle and comms wire (serial to 3 pin binder) and it works with
ACD ECU. On engine ECU there is souriau connection, plug with the car loom, and on this wire there is an USB, so
I just plug the USB of the car directly to my laptop. It never works, always trying to open connection.
I also have 3 pin connector on ECU but only 1 wire goes in the car loom and It seems to be ground to active shift light
I not sure I need a wire but I think I have connection setup trouble

Thanks,

Jerome

Ah... OK Jerome,
You are describing the 9 pin A/S connector...?
This connector and cable also contains the 2nd CAN connections as well as the 4 USB connections. Have you set this comms port up un GWv4 using the 'Connection Setup' option in GWv4....

Best regards,
RickS

P.S. The single wire from the 3 pin binder is probably the rev light....

Jerome

Most odd,
I have attached a connection document as part of the course but I suspect that you have checked everything but it doesn't hurt to check.

Has this problem just started or is it the first time that you've tried to connect to the ECU..? Have you been able to connect successfully in the past..? Are you using XP or Windows 7..?

If we still draw a blank, all that I can suggest is to send the unit back to us, so that we can check the unit out.
Best regards,
RickS

I have panasonic CF29 with Windows XP.

When I open connection setup basic I always have COM1 and COM6 type COM
so I goes in advance and select USB (LIBUSB) I can't select a name. I apply and then
connect and then power on ECU.
I read your doc and notice that when I connect my USB cable It change nothing in the basic list.It is
always COM 1 and 6

If you are running an EVO X using Windows XP, there is a driver that you need to download and install from our website.

The address is:-
http://www.gems.co.uk/?content=pages&id=drivers

Install and try again.
RickS

PS. There is a copy of the ECU manual that you can download if you have other difficulties.

Hi Ricks,

I find a broken wire in USB loom and I fixed it, now when I plug on my laptop the connection
works but It tells me 'USB unknown' , so I download driver for XP EVO X both latest and old version
and it still says 'unknown USB' and does not connect to GVV4

Jerome

I download and install latest version, then uninstall and try with older version.
That's exactly the same 'unknown USB' and I try this with 2 different laptop

Sounding more like a comms issue with the unit.
If you'd prefer, you can return the unit to us for evaluation, as I think that we have covered all of the software/connection issues that may occur.

If you would like me to proceed with this, send an email to tech.support (at) gems.co.uk with your contact details. I can then add you to our database and issue you with a Returns Number, which you should use in all communication with us. Without this number, the job will not be allocated a technician, so don't sent send anything to us without this Returns Number..!

Please let me know how you would like to proceed.

OK....
Send 'Tech.Support' an email when convenient with the contact details as mentioned before and I will get you set up in our database. Once that is done, I will be able to issue you with a Returns Number.

Good luck with your next event.
