Question from America - GEMS SUBARU 44 ISSB

Post by aug » Wed Jun 10, 2009 5:37 am

Hey,

I recently became the owner of an ECU containing this auxiliary board. I searched for information pertaining to it, but just became more confused. If there is any information you can offer me I would be forever grateful.

Thank you,

Brian

Hi,

It's a Subaru44 designed for the 2002 onwards Subaru Impreza to the 2007 models. The top board and wire modify the map signal and the 3 pin connector is so you can connect to a P.C. You will need our software which needs a dongle to connect. The dongle is £240 and is either a cream parrallel port device or a small green usb stick just in case you already have it. We also sell comms leads for these at £25 which will allow you to plug into your computer and map with GWv4.
We also have base maps for these.

Hope this helps

Ed,

Thank you for the quick response! Is there a page containing the specicications of the Subaru 44? Something that can explain its features, capabilities and so forth? Before I invest money into a dongle and cable to use it this information would be of great help.

Once again thank you for your help,

Brian

Hi,

Sorry the ECU you have is a standard ECU with a GEMS modification on it. It fools the standard ECU into thinking it's producing lower boost then it actually is. If you buy the software all you can do is view the engine parameters and modify the boost that the engine is producing. Apparently this method produced quite a good power output but i missunderstood what the unit actually was at first. As the Subaru takes it's fueling from the MAF sensor it is not neccassary to adjust the fuel map.

Hope this helps

Ed,

I just have a couple more questions, sorry :(

When were these units being installed?
Is it relatively old technology?
How much did it retail for?
Is it safe to flash this unit still?

Thank you again I really appreciate the information,

Brian

Hi,

There were sold between 2000 and 2001.
Yes it's relativly old technolodgy, although at the time it was up to date.
Not sure on how much it retailed for.
The Boost control memory on the GEMS board should be fine to reflash but the ECU memory i'm not so sure about.

Hope this helps
